I’ve finally found the time to get this ready for publication. I know it probably doesn’t look like I’ve changed much, well, that’s because I haven’t visually. I have, however, started using WordPress for the entire site. It has had its good and bad points. The good are obvious, I now have an integrated blog and the ability to edit my pages from anywhere. The bad, I’m not a developer, I’m not a PHP coder so I’ve found it difficult to settle on a plug-in that allows me to post a dynamic portfolio. I went through a few before finally settling on Joe Hoyle’s JH Portfolio. It is a good system which allows you to post items just like posts and pages all WordPress users would be familiar with. Unfortunately, its widget-based execution has made it almost impossible for me to customise it to display how I’d originally intended. If anyone is more adept at developing and tweaking WordPress plug-ins and would like to give me a few pointers, feel free to drop me a line! Apart from that, I’m very happy with how the exercise has gone and hope it will encourage me to start blogging and using social media a bit more frequently than I have in the past.
I have also found a new appreciation for designing for mobile devices and a more mobile-focussed version of this website will be launched shortly. It may be since getting my iPhone and finding I’m spending considerably more time using that to browse the web. The world is changing, the web is changing and more specifically how people engage with the web is changing and I intend to change with it (more preferably ahead of it!).
Thank you for reading, I suppose I’m going to have to come up with a few ideas for blog posts now! If you have any feedback on the new design or want to get in touch, please leave a comment or drop me a line through the contact page.
